VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 27
DTC 27:
Steering Angle Sensor (Installation Error)
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 86 indicated with DTC 27 at the same time?
YES -
Do the DTC 86 troubleshooting 86.�
NO -
Go to step 3.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Check the installation of the steering angle sensor Service and Repair.
Is the steering angle sensor installed correctly?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Do the steering angle sensor center point writing. Testing and Inspection.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II).
9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Does the VSA system indicator come on, and is DTC 27 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals between the steering angle sensor 5P connector and the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.�
10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
11. Substitute a known-good steering angle sensor Testing and Inspection.
12. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
13. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II).
15. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Does the VSA system indicator come on, and is DTC 27 indicated?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then retest. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -
Replace the original steering angle sensor Service and Repair.�
