SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-1x
DTC 62-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Open in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
1. Clear the DTC memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
3. Read the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Is DTC 62-1x indicated?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC. �
4. From the system selection menu on the HDS, select SRS, then select PARAMETER INFORMATION, then Buckle Switch, Seat Position Sensor and check the status on the HDS screen for FRONT RIGHT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH.
- If UNBUCKLED is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled, go to step 5.
- If BUCKLED is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is unbuckled, go to step 11.
- If OPEN is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled and unbuckled, go to step 18.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
7. Buckle the front passenger's seat belt. Check resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistances specified?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
8. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.
9. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit Service and Repair.
10. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 16 and front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 1. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�
NO -
Open in the SRS wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness, or poor connection at C703. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
12. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
13. Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
14. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 15.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
15. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.
16. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit Service and Repair.
17. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 15 and front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2.There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�
NO -
Open in the SRS wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness, or poor connection at C703. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the faulty harness.�
18. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
19. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
20. Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
21. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Open in the SRS wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness, poor connection at C703 and poor ground connection at G552 Harness Locations. C703 and G552 connection is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
