VSA/BSI Off Switch Does Not Work
Blind Spot Information System (BSI) Symptom Troubleshooting - VSA/BSI OFF switch does not work
VSA/BSI OFF switch does not work (Canada models)
NOTE:
- If the system malfunctions, always check for DTCs with the HDS.
- If a DTC is stored, troubleshoot the DTC first.
- Check the VSA/BSI OFF switch by pressing and holding it for 1 seconds.
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
3. Select HISTORY DATA CLEAR in the BSI MENU, and clear the operating history with the HDS.
4. Press and hold the VSA/BSI OFF switch for at least 1 second and repeat again.
5. Select Data List in the BSI MENU, and check the operating history in the Off to On history of BSI OFF switch and the On to Off history of BSI OFF switch with the HDS.
Are both ON?
YES -
The VSA/BSI OFF switch is OK.�
NO -
Go to step 6.
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Disconnect the VSA/BSI OFF switch 13P connector.
8. Check the VSA/BSI OFF switch Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
Is it OK?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Replace the VSA/BSI OFF switch Component Tests and General Diagnostics.�
9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
10. Measure the voltage between VSA/BSI OFF switch 13P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 8. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 11.
NO -
Go to step 13.
11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
12. Measure the voltage between VSA/BSI OFF switch 13P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 8. There should be less than 0.2 V.
Is the voltage as specified?
YES -
Replace the BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation.�
NO -
Repair a short to power in the wire between the BSI control unit and the VSA/BSI OFF switch.�
13. Measure the resistance between VSA/BSI OFF switch 13P connector terminal No. 8 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 14.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA/BSI OFF switch and body ground (G501).�
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
15. Disconnect the BSI control unit 16P connector.
16. Measure the resistance between BSI control unit 16P connector terminal No. 8 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 17.
NO -
Repair a short to ground in the wire between the BSI control unit and the VSA/BSI OFF switch.�
17. Measure the resistance between BSI control unit 16P connector terminal No. 8 and VSA/BSI OFF switch 13P connector terminal No. 7. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Replace the BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation.�
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the BSI control unit and the VSA/BSI OFF switch.�
