TECHNICAL

Subject:
Wind Noise at Driver's Front Side Door B-Pillar Area
(Install Attachment Screw)

Models:
1999 Buick LeSabre
1999 Pontiac Bonneville

Condition

Some customers may comment that wind noise can be heard from the driver's front door at the B-Pillar area.

Cause

This condition may be due to a gap between the front side door's window frame rear applique and the moveable glass allowing air flow into the passenger compartment.

Correction

Install a center/3rd attachment screw to the front side door's window frame rear applique.

Use the following procedure:

1. Lower the LH front side door window.

2. Carefully remove/peel the glass run channel weatherstrip from the LH front side door window frame rear applique (1).

3. Locate the center tooling hole (2).

4. Place a protective covering, such as masking tape, over the applique near the center tooling hole in order to avoid damage to the applique surface.

5. Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) hole through the top metal surface of the window frame at the center tooling hole (2).

6. Install the attachment screw, P/N 11515893, into the center hole drilled.

Tighten

Tighten the screw to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

7. Remove the protective covering from the applique.

8. Install the glass run channel weatherstrip into the door window frame. Ensure the end of the glass run channel weatherstrip is placed properly around the window's edge.
