Driver Information Center or Message Center

DRIVER INFORMATION SWITCHES (DIC)
The DIC uses the following switches in order to navigate through the information displays:
^ ENG/MET
^ FUEL INFO (uplevel)
^ GAGE INFO (base)
^ ODO/TRIP (uplevel)
^ RESET (uplevel)
^ TRIP RESET (base)

ENG/MET
The ENG/MET button is used in order to change the IPC, the DIC, and the HUD displays between English and metric units. The km/h indicator or the MPH indicator illuminate in the IPC and the HUD accordingly.

FUEL INFO
The FUEL INFO button is used in order to navigate through the fuel related displays. The FUEL INFO parameters are displayed in the following order:
^ Average fuel economy
^ Instantaneous fuel economy
^ Fuel range

AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY
The average fuel economy is a function of the distance travelled divided by the fuel used since the average fuel economy parameter was last reset. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel used, and the IPC uses the distance information calculated for the odometer display for the values in the equation. The average fuel economy parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ FUEL ECONOMY
AVERAGE ##.# MPG
^ FUEL ECONOMY
AVG ##.# L/100 km

The ##.# represent the calculated average fuel economy value. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The average fuel economy is reset by pressing the RESET button for greater than 5 seconds while the average fuel economy message is displayed. The DIC displays 0.0 MPG for the English mode and 99.9 L/100 km for the metric mode when the parameter is reset.

INSTANTANEOUS FUEL ECONOMY
The instantaneous fuel economy is a function of distance divided by fuel used over a short period of time. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel used, and the IPC uses the distance information calculated for the odometer display for the values in the equation. The instantaneous fuel economy parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ FUEL ECONOMY
INST. ## MPG
^ FUEL ECONOMY
INST. ## L/100 km

The ## represent the calculated instantaneous fuel economy value. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The instantaneous fuel economy cannot be reset by the driver.

FUEL RANGE
The fuel range is the estimated distance that the vehicle can travel without refueling. This calculation is based on the current fuel economy and fuel level conditions from the previous 40 km (25 miles) of driving. The IPC receives class 2 messages from the PCM indicating the fuel level percent and the fuel capacity, and the IPC uses the distance information calculated for the odometer display for the values in the equation. The fuel range parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ FUEL RANGE
### MI
^ FUEL RANGE
### km

The ### represent the calculated fuel range value. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The fuel range cannot be reset by the driver. When the fuel range is less than 64 km (40 miles) the DIC displays LOW RANGE.

GAGE INFO
The GAGE INFO button is used in order to navigate through the gauge related displays. The GAGE INFO parameters are displayed in the following order:
1. Oil pressure
2. Coolant temperature
3. Battery voltage
4. GM oil life index
5. Tire pressure status

OIL PRESSURE
The PCM monitors the oil pressure sensor and sends class 2 messages to the IPC indicating the oil pressure. The oil pressure parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ OIL PRESSURE
NORMAL ### PSI
^ OIL PRESSURE
NORMAL ### kpa

The ### represent the oil pressure value as determined by the PCM. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The DIC displays LOW instead of NORMAL when the PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination of the engine oil pressure indicator in the cluster. The IPC displays - - - instead of an oil pressure value when an engine oil pressure sensor circuit malfunction has been detected by the PCM. The oil pressure cannot be reset by the driver.

COOLANT TEMPERATURE
The PCM monitors the coolant temperature sensor and sends class 2 messages to the IPC indicating the coolant temperature. The coolant temperature parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ COOLANT TEMP
NORMAL ###°F
^ COOLANT TEMP
NORMAL ###°C

The ### represent the coolant temperature value as determined by the PCM. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The IPC displays HOT instead of NORMAL when the PC determines that a hot coolant temperature condition exists. The coolant temperature cannot be reset by the driver.

BATTERY VOLTAGE
The DIM monitors the battery voltage and sends class 2 messages to the IPC indicating the battery voltage. The battery voltage parameter is displayed on the DIC in the following format:
BATTERY STATE
NORMAL ##.# V

The ##.# represent the battery voltage as determined by the DIM. The DIC displays LOW or HIGH instead of NORMAL when the IPC determines that a high or low battery voltage condition exists. The battery voltage cannot be reset by the driver.

GM Oil Life Index
The oil life parameter is calculated by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and the information is provide to the IPC via class 2 serial data messages. The engine oil life parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ OIL LIFE INDEX
NORMAL ### %
^ OIL LIFE INDEX
CHANGE OIL ### %

The ### represents the calculated engine oil life value. The value ranges between 100 and 0 percent. The oil life is reset to 100 percent by pressing the RESET button for greater than 5 seconds while the oil life index message is displayed.

TIRE PRESSURE STATUS
The tire pressure parameter is displayed on the DIC as determined by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). The tire pressure is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:
^ TIRE PRESSURE
NORMAL
^ TIRE PRESSURE
LOW: CHECK TIRES
^ TIRE PRESSURE
RESET

The IPC displays LOW: CHECK TIRES when the IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM indicating a low tire pressure condition. The tire pressure monitoring system is reset by pressing the RESET button for greater than 5 seconds while the tire pressure status message is displayed.

ODO/TRIP
The ODO/TRIP button is used in order to display the season odometer and either of the two trip odometers. The odometer messages display in one of the following formats:

TRIP 1: ###.# MI
^ ###### km
TRIP 1: ###.# km
^ ###### MI
TRIP 2: ###.# MI
^ ###### km
TRIP 2: ###.# km

The ### represents the odometer value. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting (English/metric). The IPC uses the odometer display as the default. Each of the trip odometers is reset by pressing the RESET button while that trip odometer message is displayed.

RESET
The RESET button is used in conjunction with other buttons in order to reset system functions.

TRIP RESET
The TRIP RESET button is used in order to reset the trip odometer to zero on a base cluster.

PERSONALIZATION PROGRAMMING
Personalization features may be set for the vehicle or the driver. Vehicle features do not change with each driver. Specific drivers are recognized by the vehicle through the keyless entry transmitters, the memory buttons, or the Driver Information Center (DIC).
