Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair

AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the air baffle bolts.
3. Remove the air baffle.




4. Disconnect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor from the evaporator inlet tube.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the evaporator inlet tube filling.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT allow any of the mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil on the O-ring seal to enter the refrigerant system.

2. Lightly coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor to the evaporator inlet tube.

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

4. Connect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
5. Leak test the fillings of the component using J 39400-A.




6. Install the air baffle.
7. Install the air baffle bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

8. Lower the vehicle.
