Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement



Instrument Panel (I/P) Retainer Replacement

Removal Procedure





If the retainer is to be replaced with a new retainer, the shipping strap (1) must be cut off the new retainer after installation of the retainer to the IP carrier.

1. Remove the center console. Refer toConsole Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .




2. Remove the upper A/C vents.
3. Remove the radio assembly. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.
4. Remove the Instrument panel (IP) compartment assembly. Refer toCompartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the IP cluster.
6. Remove the defroster grille. Refer toDefroster Grille Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Defroster Grille Replacement) .
7. Remove the left and right IP closeout panel. Refer toCloseout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) , andCloseout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
8. Lower the steering column. Refer toSteering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.




9. Remove the bolts securing the lower retainer support bracket.
10. Remove the screws securing the side of the retainer to the IP carrier.




11. Remove the screws securing the lower center stack.




12. Remove the screws behind the IP compartment securing the IP retainer to the IP carrier.




13. Remove the screws securing the retainer to the to IP carrier.




14. Remove the upper retainer to carrier screws.
15. Remove the IP retainer.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the IP retainer onto the IP carrier.




2. Install the upper IP retainer screws.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the screws securing the retainer to the IP carrier.

Tighten the fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





4. Install the screws behind the IP compartment securing the IP retainer to the IP carrier.

Tighten the screws to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





5. Install the screws securing the lower center stack.

Tighten the screws to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

6. Install the fasteners securing the side of the retainer the center support.

Tighten the fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





7. Install the bolts securing the lower retainer support bracket.

Tighten the fasteners to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

8. Raise the steering column. Refer toSteering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
9. Install the left and right IP closeout panel. Refer toCloseout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) andCloseout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
10. Install the defroster grille. Refer toDefroster Grille Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Defroster Grille Replacement) .
11. Install the IP cluster.
12. Install the IP compartment assembly. Refer toCompartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Service and Repair) .
13. Install the radio assembly. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.




14. Install the upper A/C vents.
15. Install the center console. Refer toConsole Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .
