Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement



Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement

Removal Procedure





If the retainer is to be replaced with a new retainer, the shipping strap (1) must be cut off the new retainer after installation of the retainer to the instrument panel (I/P) carrier.

1. Remove the center console. Refer toFront Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement) .




2. Remove the upper A/C vents.
3. Remove the radio assembly. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.
4. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment assembly. Refer toInstrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the I/P cluster.
6. Remove the defroster grille. Refer toDefroster Grille Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Defroster Grille Replacement) .
7. Remove the left and right I/P closeout panel. Refer toInstrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) , andInstrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
8. Lower the steering column. Refer toSteering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.




9. Remove the bolts securing the lower retainer support bracket.
10. Remove the screws securing the side of the retainer to the I/P carrier.




11. Remove the screws securing the lower center stack.




12. Remove the screws behind the I/P compartment securing the I/P retainer to the I/P carrier.
13. Disconnect the passenger side inline connector.
14. Disconnect the air temperature sensor and the aspirator tube.




15. Remove the screws securing the retainer to the to I/P carrier.




16. Remove the upper retainer to carrier screws.
17. Remove the I/P retainer.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the I/P retainer onto the I/P carrier.




2. Install the upper I/P retainer screws.
3. Connect the air temperature sensor and the aspirator tube.
4. Connect the passenger side inline connector.





Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the screws securing the retainer to the I/P carrier.

Tighten the fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





6. Install the screws behind the I/P compartment securing the I/P retainer to the I/P carrier.

Tighten the screws to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





7. Install the screws securing the lower center stack.

Tighten the screws to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

8. Install the fasteners securing the side of the retainer the center support.

Tighten the fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





9. Install the bolts securing the lower retainer support bracket.

Tighten the fasteners to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

10. Raise the steering column. Refer toSteering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
11. Install the left and right I/P closeout panel. Refer toInstrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) andInstrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
12. Install the defroster grille. Refer toDefroster Grille Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Defroster Grille Replacement) .
13. Install the I/P cluster.
14. Install the I/P compartment assembly. Refer toInstrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
15. Install the radio assembly. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.




16. Install the upper A/C vents.
17. Install the center console. Refer toFront Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement) .
