Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement



INSTRUMENT PANEL CARRIER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) retainer.
2. Remove the HVAC ducts.




3. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.
4. Remove the parking brake pedal assembly.




5. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, loosen the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the carrier.
6. Disconnect all electrical wire retainers from the carrier assembly.

IMPORTANT: Note the location and routing of the wiring harness and harness retainers.




7. Remove the nuts securing the carrier to the cowl.
8. Remove the carrier assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the carrier assembly.




2. Install the bolts securing the carrier to the cowl.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
3. Install the nuts securing the carrier to the firewall under the A pillar.

Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
4. Connect all electrical wire retainers to the carrier assembly.




5. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Install the parking brake pedal assembly.




7. Install the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the cowl.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
8. Install the HVAC ducts.
9. Install the I/P retainer.
