Folding Top Cover Retainer Replacement - Number Five Bow

Removal Procedure




1. Position the folding top with the #1 and #5 bow up.
2. Remove the #5 bow weatherstrip.




3. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the top cover staples to the bow.
4. Pull top cover away from the bow.




5. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the stay pad staples from the bow.

Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in Service Precautions.

6. From the top of the bow, drill out the rivets from the top cover retainers.
7. Remove the top cover retainers.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the top cover retainers to the #5 bow.
2. Using the rivets provided, push the shank of the rivet through the retainer. With an assistant install the rivet into the bow using a large tapered punch, hammer until the rivet is flush.




3. Staple the stay pad to the #5 bow.
4. Before stapling the top cover to the #5 bow, refer to Folding Top Cover Tension Adjustment - Rear.
5. Return the folding top to the original position.
