Folding Top Headliner Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Position the folding top with the #1 and #5 bow up.
2. Remove the seal compression panel.




3. Using a pair of needle nose pliers remove the top cover staples from the #1 bow.




4. Using a pair of needle nose pliers remove the headliner staples from the #1 bow.
5. Pull the top cover back over the #3 bow.




6. Remove the headliner side screws from the #1 bow.




7. Using a pair of needle nose pliers remove the headliner extension push on retainers from the studs on the #1 bow.




8. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #2 bow.




9. Position the top in a closed position with the folding top stowage lid open to gain access to the headliner attachments.
10. Remove the headliner elastic strap retainer screws from the #5 bow.
11. Remove the headliner elastic strap retainer screws from the rear side rail.
12. Remove the headliner screws from the rear side rail.




13. Position the #1 and #5 bow up to gain access to the #4 bow screws.




14. Remove the rear window support strap screws from the number four bow.
15. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #4 bow.




16. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #3 bow.
17. Remove the headliner.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the headliner retainer to the #3 bow.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #3 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

3. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #4 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




4. Install the rear window support strap screws to the #4 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

5. Install the headliner elastic strap retainer screws to the rear side rails.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the headliner screws to the rear side rails.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Install the headliner elastic strap retainers screws to the #5 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




8. Position the #1 and #5 bow up.




9. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #2 bow.

Tighten the to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




10. Install the headliner extension push on retainers to the #1 bow stud.




11. Install the right and left side headliner screws to the #1 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




12. Staple the headliner to the #1 bow.
13. Before stapling the top cover to the #1 bow, refer To Folding Top Cover Tension Adjustment - Front.
14. Reposition the folding top to the original position.
