Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair




Filler Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure

Danger:
To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.


Warning:
Refer to Safety Glasses Warning Safety Glasses Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the fuel filler cap.

3. Drain the fuel tank below the level of the fuel filler hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedures.

4. Remove the right rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

5. Remove the rear bumper fascia.

6. Remove the rear wheelhouse liner.





7. Loosen the fuel filler tube to fuel tank neck retaining clamp (1).

8. Remove the fuel filler tube to fuel tank neck.

9. Disconnect the fuel filler vent tube (2) from the fuel tank. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.





10. Remove the fuel filler tube to upper fuel filler neck rubber seal surround.

11. Remove the earth lead connector (2) to upper fuel filler neck.





12. Remove the fuel filler tube to chassis retaining bolts (1).

13. Remove the fuel filler tube from the vehicle (2).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the fuel filler tube to the vehicle.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the fuel filler tube to fuel tank neck retaining clamp (1).

Tighten the clamp to 3.5 Nm (31 lb in).

3. Connect the fuel filler vent tube (2) to the fuel tank. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.





4. Install the fuel filler tube to chassis retaining bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





5. Install the fuel filler tube to upper fuel filler neck rubber seal surround.

6. Install the earth lead connector (2) to upper filler neck.

7. Install the rear wheelhouse liner.

8. Install the rear bumper fascia.

9. Install the right rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

10. Add fuel to the fuel tank.

11. Inspect for fuel leaks.

12. Install the fuel filler cap.
