Tail Lamps - Repeated Moisture Build Up in Lens

Moisture in Tail Lamps

MODELS:
1995 (JA) Cirrus

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Repeated moisture buildup in tail lamps that does not evaporate quickly when the lights are turned on. Can be more prevalent in one lamp.

DIAGNOSIS:

Remove and inspect affected lamp(s). If there are no obvious defects in the lamp such as a bad Weld or crack, inspect the vent holes for obstructions. If the vent holes are open. attempt to dry the inside of the light by turning the lights on. Perform the repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR 4856408 Vent Tube
AR 4630158 Right Tail Lamp Assembly
AR 4630159 Left Tail Lamp Assembly

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves adding and positioning a revised (pre-formed) vent tube.

1. Disconnect wiring connector and remove lamp from vehicle.

2. It tail lamp cannot be dried out, replace the lamp assembly. Before installing the new lamp assembly or dried out existing lamp, inspect the drain hose configuration.

Tail Light Assembly Drain:





3. The drain hose should be a 900 preformed hose, P/N 4856408, at location "A" prior to 2/10/95 (MDH 02-10-XX) or location "B" after 2-10-95 (MDH 02-10-XX) as illustrated. If hose is at location "A" it should be routed to the inboard side of the wire connector as shown.
