THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE.

DISCUSSION:
The ignition switch housing, p/n 04690523, is now available as a separate service part. This part eliminates the need to replace the complete steering column assembly if the service issue only relates to the ignition switch housing.

The service procedure to replace the ignition switch housing is published in the 2000 Town & Country, Caravan and Voyager Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-0005) starting on page 19-47 and can be used for 1996-2000 model year vehicles.

IMPORTANT:
AFTER THE COMPLETION OF STEP 12 IN THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, YOU MUST VERIFY THAT THE SHIFT LEVER INTERLOCK FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. WITH IGNITION KEY REMOVED FROM LOCK CYLINDER AND BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, ATTEMPT TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THE LEVER MOVES OUT OF THE PARK POSITION YOU MUST REPEAT STEPS 11 AND 12 OF THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.

The Labor Operation Number for replacing the switch housing is 19-20-75-01, 0.8 Hrs.
