Door Secondary Sill Weatherstrip Is Loose Or Is Missing

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a new door secondary sill weatherstrip.

MODELS:
2000 (AN) Dakota
2000 (DN) Durango

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The door secondary sill weatherstrip is loose or is missing.

DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the front/rear door secondary sill weatherstrip for looseness or to see if it is missing. If the weatherstrip is loose or is missing, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR (2) 55257406AB Weatherstrip, Front Door Secondary Sill
AR (2) 55257214AA Weatherstrip, Rear Door Secondary Sill

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.





1. If the door secondary sill weatherstrip is still attached, remove it (Figure 1 and Figure 2).

2. Remove all dirt and debris from the door secondary sill weatherstrip sealing area.

3. Using a cloth and Isopropyl Alcohol, thoroughly clean the door secondary sill weatherstrip sealing area.

4. Peel the carrier from the new weatherstrip (see Parts Required section) and position the weatherstrip on the lower inner door sill.

5. To ensure that the weatherstrip is secured to the lower inner door sill, use a roller (or equivalent) to apply pressure to the entire length of the weatherstrip.
