Headliner: Service and Repair
HEADLINERCAUTION: Headliners are molded hardboard. They have limited flexibility and must not be bent during removal/installation. Permanent damage will result.
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- The headliner and the trim moldings are attached to the roof bows with push-in fasteners.
- To remove a headliner the trim moldings must be removed along with:
- Dome/cargo lamp.
- Map/reading lamp.
- Sunvisors.
- Coat hanger hook.
- Assist handle.
- Any other attached component.
1. As applicable, remove the dome/cargo lamps and map/reading lamps.
2. Remove sunvisors and the visor clips.
3. Remove coat hooks.
4. Remove assist handle.
5. Remove front door header trim panels.
6. Remove the side cargo door header trim panel.
7. Remove the upper side trim panels from the body side panels. Refer to Trim Panel.
8. Remove the rear cargo door header trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel.

9. Remove the roof bow molding from all roof crossmembers (Fig. 7).

10. Detach each headliner section from the body side clip retainers (Fig. 8).
11. Remove push-in fasteners attaching headliner to roof bows.

12. Remove headliner (Fig. 8) and (Fig. 9).
INSTALLATION
1. Position each headliner section in vehicle adjacent to roof panel.
2. Install push-in fasteners attaching headliner to roof bows.
3. Position roof bow trim molding at all roof cross-members.
4. Attach the headliner sections to the body side clip retainers.
5. Install the roof bow molding.
6. Install the rear cargo door header trim panel.
7. Install the upper side trim panels from the body side panels.
8. Install the side cargo door header trim panel.
9. Install the front door header trim panels.
10. Install the assist handle.
11. Install the coat hooks.
12. Install the sunvisors and the visor clips.
13. Install the dome/cargo lamps and the map/ reading lamps.
