Hood Hinge: Service and Repair

HINGE

REMOVAL

NOTE: If both hinges are being replaced, remove hood, cowl grille and both hinges. If one hinge is being replaced, use the following procedure.

1. Remove cowl grille. Refer to Cowl Moulding/Trim.

2. Loosen bolts attaching hood to hinge arm (Fig. 2).
3. Support hood at each side.
4. Remove bolts attaching hood to hinge arm.

5. Remove retainer from hinge pivot (Fig. 1).
6. Remove hinge from pivot.

INSTALLATION

1. Lubricate hinge pivot with engine oil.
2. Position hinge on pivot.
3. Install hinge retainer on hinge pivot.
4. Align hood panel bolt holes with the hinge arm holes.
5. Install bolts attaching hood to hinge arm.
6. Remove side support.
7. Install the cowl grille.
