FRONT AXLE - C205F

REMOVAL





1. With vehicle in neutral, position on hoist.
2. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.
3. Remove support crossmember bolts (1) and remove crossmember (2).





4. Remove brake components.
5. Remove axle hub nut (1).





6. Remove hub bearing and brake shield.
7. Remove half shafts.
8. Mark propeller shaft (1) and flange (2) for installation reference.





9. Remove propeller shaft.
10. Remove axle vent tube (2) from the differential cover (1).





11. Support axle with a jack and secure axle to jack.
12. Remove 2 bolts (1) holding the differential housing (3) to the left engine mount.





13. Remove 3 bolts (2) holding the axle to the pinion nose bracket.





14. Remove 2 bolts (2) holding axle tube (1) to right engine mount.
15. Lower axle from vehicle.

INSTALLATION





1. Raise axle into position.
2. Loosely install nuts and bolts (1) in engine mount.





3. Loosely install nuts and bolts (2) in pinion nose bracket.





4. Loosely install bolts (2) in axle tube mount.





5. Tighten all the bolts finger-tight, then tighten all bolts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the axle vent tube.
7. Install propeller shaft with reference marks aligned.
8. Install half shafts.
9. Install support crossmember (2).
10. Install half shafts.
11. Install hub bearing and brake shield.
12. Install brake components.
13. Install half shafts.
14. Install skid plate, if necessary.
