Upper Oil Pan
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the bolt (1) and remove the oil level indicator (2).
3. Raise and support the vehicle Maintenance.
4. Drain the engine oil Service and Repair.
5. If equipped, remove the front skid plate and the front suspension skid plate.
NOTE: The lower oil pan must be removed to access all of the upper oil pan retaining bolts.
6. Remove the lower oil pan Engine Oil Pan - Removal
7. If equipped with AWD, remove the front axle (1) Removal.
8. Remove the steering gear (1) Steering Gear - Removal
9. Remove two rubber plugs (1) covering the rear oil seal retainer flange bolts.
10. Remove two bolts (1) from the rear oil seal retainer flange.
11. Unclip the transmission cooler line retainer (1) from the oil pan flange.
12. Remove four transmission to the engine oil pan bolts (1).
13. Remove nineteen oil pan mounting bolts (1).
14. Using the four indicated pry points, carefully remove the upper oil pan.
15. Remove all residual sealant from the upper and lower oil pans, timing chain cover, rear seal retainer and engine block mating surfaces Procedures
