B2312-15-WIPER ON/OFF CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY OR OPEN

- When Monitored:
With the windshield wipers off.

- Set Condition:
The Body Control Module detects a short to voltage or open in the wiper on/off relay coil control circuit.





Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

2. CHECK THE (W8) WIPER ON/OFF RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Power Distribution Center (PDC) C7 harness connector.
3. Measure the voltage of the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit.

Is the voltage above 2.3 volts?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (W8) WIPER ON/OFF RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Disconnect the BCM A harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit between the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and the BCM A harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the open in the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

4. CHECK THE BCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Reconnect the BCM A harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit at the PDC C7 harness connector.
4. Turn the wipers on.

Does the test light illuminate?

Yes

- Replace the PDC.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .
