B273F

B273F-00-AIRBAG SIGNAL TEST FAILED

Special Tools:

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Possible Causes-B273F-00

- When Monitored:
Continuously with the ignition on and the Radio (RRM) turned on.

- Set Condition:
This DTC is a Loss of communication fault for the serial interface between the Radio (RRM) and the ORC. It looks for heartbeat signal and sets fault if it disappears for more than 65 seconds.

Diagnostic Test

1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION

NOTE: The use of a approved special tool or Digital Multimeter such as a Fluke Meter that will not apply more than 20 milliamperes to a circuit are the only measurement tools to be used.

NOTE: Probing of the circuit cavities at the ORC Module C1-A, C1-B, or C2-A body harness connectors is only to be done with a approved test lead from the (10159), test lead 10159-6. Or a comparable test lead to prevent vehicle wiring harness connector damage during diagnostic procedures.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display; B273F-00-AIRBAG SIGNAL TEST FAILED?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

2. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Radio (RRM) harness connector.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Measure for voltage on the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit at the radio (RRM) connector PIN 3.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Replace the Radio. Radio - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

Turn the ignition off.
1. Disconnect the Radio (RRM) harness connector and Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) harness connector.
2.
3. Measure the resistance of the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit between the Radio (RRM) harness connector and the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) harness connector.

Is the resistance above 2.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the open in the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit according to the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING:
If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

- Replace the ORC module. Occupant Restraint Controller - Removal
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Restraints System Verification Test.
