PURPOSE
The timing connector, commonly referred to as the Spark Output Timing (SPOUT) Connector disables the computer controlled electronic advance. This allows for an accurate measurement of base timing.

OPERATION
The SPOUT connector, also referred to as C137 in electrical diagrams, is an inline connection located between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the ignition module. During normal operation the SPOUT connector is left in place thus allowing spark advance information to be transferred between the PCM and the ignition module. When the SPOUT connector is removed it disconnects the PCM controlled timing advance signal from the ignition module, thus forcing the ignition system to operate at base timing.

CONSTRUCTION
The SPOUT connector comes in two forms. The first is a single wire inline connection. The second type is a 2 wire shorting bar connection.
