4. Heater Bypass Update Instructions - Determined By Engine

Figure 1:

a. F-Series, 7.3L Diesel (Figure 1)

^ Install a new upper heater hose, using bulk hose, from the heater core to the water pump inlet on top of the engine.

^ Install a new lower heater hose (E9TZ-18472-A) from the heater core to the engine block outlet (lower right front fitting on the engine) and the heater bypass inlet at the radiator (lower right corner). The "T" fitting must be oriented as shown in Figure 1.

b. F-Series, 7.5L Gas (Figure 2)

^ Install a new heater bypass assembly (E9TZ-8555-E).

^ Install a new heater hose from the heater core to the water pump inlet using bulk hose.

^ Install a new hose from the heater core to the engine block. This hose must have the "T" fitting installed near the engine block connection. The "T" fitting must be oriented as shown in Figure 2.

^ Connect the heater bypass assembly to the "T" fitting.

c. E-Series, 7.3L Diesel (Figure 3)

^ Install a new upper heater hose using bulk hose.

^ Install a new heater bypass tube assembly (FOUZ-8555-C). The "T" fitting must be oriented as shown in Figure 3.

^ Connect the heater bypass tube assembly to the lower heater hose.

d. E-Series, 7.5L Gas (Figure 4)

^ Re-install the heater hose with the "T" fitting from the heater core to the heater bypass tube assembly and the engine block fitting. The "T" fitting must be oriented as shown in Figure 4.

^ Re-install the heater hose from the heater core to the water pump inlet.


NOTE: IF THE HOSES ARE TOO SHORT OR KINKED WHEN INSTALLED IN THEIR NEW LOCATIONS, FABRICATE NEW HOSES USING BULK HEATER HOSE AND A STANDARD "T" FITTING.

5. Re-fill the cooling system and run the engine to normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for leaks.
