LIGHT TRUCK:
1993-94 RANGER

This TSB is being republished in its entirety to include the 1994 model years.

ISSUE:
The generator drive belt may slip on the pulleys causing a low battery charge, dim lights, poor power steering assist and accessory drive belt "squeal". This occurs because road splash enters the engine compartment and causes the generator belt to slip when wet.

ACTION:
Install a new splash shield to the left hand fender apron to prevent road splash from entering the engine compartment. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2. Remove the left front wheel.

3. Remove the plastic push pins from the new Splash Shield Assembly (F37Z-16103-A).





4. Place the new splash shield (F37Z-16103-A) onto the left hand front fender apron as shown in Figure 1.

NOTE:
POSITION CUTOUT IN SHIELD ABOUT 1/2" (12.7 mm) DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BRAKE LINE.

5. Using the pin holes in the splash shield as a guide, mark the fender apron in six (6) places for drill locations.





6. Drill six (6) 6.0 mm diameter holes in the fender apron as shown in Figure 2.

7. Insert push pins back onto splash shield.

8. Install splash shield (F37Z-16103-A) onto vehicle by inserting the pins into the drilled holes in the apron.

9. Reinstall wheel and tighten wheel lug nuts to 100 lb.ft. (136 N-m).

10. Remind customer to retighten nuts after 500 miles (805 km), consistent with Owner Guide instructions.
