Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

The backup lamps are controlled by a transmission switch. On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission (7003), the backup lamp switch (15520) closes when the gearshift lever (7210) is placed in "R" (reverse). On all vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission the backup lamp system is controlled by the Park/Neutral switch (Aerostar) or Transmission Range (TR) switch (Ranger, Explorer).
