Installation






1. Use Engine Lift Bar to support the engine.
2. Remove the engine from the stand.
3. Install a new crankshaft rear oil seal.
4. Install a new crankshaft rear oil seal slinger.





5. Install the flywheel.
6. Position the engine.
7. Raise and support the vehicle.

NOTE: Align the engine to transmission dowel pins before installing the engine to transmission bolts.

8. Install the transmission to engine block bolts, the converter bolts and the transmission inspection cover.





9. Install the RH engine mount bolt.





10. Install the three LH engine mount to cylinder block bolts.





11. Install the LH engine mount bolt.





12. Install the oil cooler.
13. Install the RH exhaust manifold studs.





14. Install the RH exhaust manifold to three way catalytic converter nuts.





15. Install the LH exhaust manifold to three way catalytic converter nut.





16. Install the power steering pump and the power steering pump bolts.





17. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.





18. Connect the HEGO connections.





19. Connect the oil pressure switch electrical connection.





20. Install the transmission fluid cooler hoses into the cylinder block mounted clip.
21. Install the A/C compressor.
22. Install the starter motor.
23. Lower vehicle.





24. Connect the emission vacuum control connection.





25. Connect the heater return hose and position clamp.





26. Connect the heater supply hose to heater core.





27. Connect the heater return hose to heater core.





28. Position and install the junction block bracket.





29. Connect the 16-pin connection and the single pin connection.





30. Connect the two 42-pin bulkhead connectors.





31. Install the mega fuses into the bracket.





32. Connect the two cable leads to the starter relay.
33. Install the intake manifold.





34. Install the power steering fluid reservoir bracket.
1. Position the power steering fluid reservoir bracket.
2. Install the bolts.





35. Install the engine bulkhead cover.
36. Install the drive belt.
37. Install the air conditioning condenser.
38. Install the engine air cleaner.
39. Install the hood.





40. Connect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.

41. Fill the engine with Ford Premium 1OW-30 Motor Oil XO-1OW-30-BSP, DPS, QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E.
42. Fill the engine coolant.
43. Start and check operation of vehicle.
