11. Remove the manual lever shaft retaining pin.
NOTE: Use a shop cloth to protect the transmission case surface.
12. Remove the manual lever shaft inner nut.
- Slide the manual control lever shaft out of the case while removing inner nut.
13. Remove the (A) manual valve detent and (B) parking lever actuating rod.
14. Remove the manual control lever shaft seal.
CAUTION: Use care not to damage the manual control lever shaft bore.
15. Disconnect the solenoid and sensor electrical connectors.
CAUTION: Do not pull on wires. This may damage wires or connector and could result in transmission solenoid or sensor failure. Carefully pry up on locking tab and disconnect the connector.
16. Remove the EPC solenoid.
17. Remove the 24 main control valve body bolts.
18. Remove the 2-3 accumulator spring retainer.
19. Remove the (A) 2-3 accumulator spring and the (B) 2-3 accumulator piston.
20. Use (A) Servo Piston Remover/Replacer T92P-70023-A to compress the piston spring, then remove the (B) overdrive servo piston retainer.
NOTE: If tool is not available, extreme care must be taken. Spring pressure will force overdrive servo piston assembly out of case. Case bore damage may result from trying to pry on internal retaining ring.
21. Remove the (A) overdrive servo piston and the (B) overdrive servo piston return spring.
22. Use (A) Servo Piston Remover/Replacer T92P-70023-A to compress the piston spring, then remove the (B) reverse band servo retaining ring.
23. Remove the (A) reverse band servo cover, (B) reverse band servo piston and rod and (C) reverse band servo spring.
24. Use (A) Servo Piston Remover Replacer T92P-70023-A to compress the 1-2 accumulator cover and remove the (B) 1-2 accumulator piston retaining ring.
25. Remove the (A) 1-2 accumulator cover, the (B) 1-2 accumulator outer spring, the (C) accumulator piston and (D) 1-2 shift accumulator spring.
NOTE: Note the location of the 1-2 accumulator outer spring to ease assembly. Some models may use two 1-2 accumulator outer springs. The accumulator piston may also vary with applications.
26. Remove the fluid screen.
27. Use (A) Seal Remover T74P-77248-A and (B) Impact Slide Hammer TS0T-100-A to remove the (C) extension housing seal.
28. Remove the extension housing.
(1) Remove the four bolts and two nuts.
(2) Remove the extension housing and the extension housing gasket.
NOTE: The extension housing bolts have been coated with a sealant. High breakaway torque may be required to remove these bolts.
29. Remove the parking pawl.
(1) Remove the parking pawl shaft.
(2) Remove the parking pawl return spring.
(3) Remove the parking pawl.
30. Rotate transmission to the vertical position with the output shaft toward floor.
31. Place a screwdriver on the flat portion of the connector and push the connector out through the bottom of the case.
CAUTION: Extreme care must be taken during transmission connector removal. Do not pull on wires, or use a hammer on the connector body.
32. Use (A) Seal Remover TOOL-1 175-AC and (B) Impact Slide Hammer T59L-100-B to remove the (C) front pump seal.
33. Remove the seven pump body bolts.
NOTE: The pump body bolts have been coated with sealant. High break torque may be required to remove the bolts.
34. Use two (A) Impact Slide Hammers T59L-100-B and (B) Pump Puller Adapters T89T-70010-A to remove the (C) front pump support.
