Safety Belt Bolt Bit:
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
NOTE: Safety belt buckles, height adjusters, center adjust tongues and belts and retractors can be replaced separately. However, if a safety belt assembly was in use during a collision, the belt and retractor must be replaced as well as the center adjust tongue and belt and buckle assembly or the center adjust tongue and the cable and buckle assembly. When replacing safety belts and buckles, height adjusters, safety cables and buckles, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors, use only the replacement parts specified in the Ford Master Parts Catalogs for the make and model of the vehicle being serviced. Safety belt assemblies must not be interchanged between vehicle models.
1. Remove the shoulder belt guide.
1 Carefully position the shoulder belt guide cover up.
2 Remove the nut.
3 Remove the shoulder belt guide.
2. Remove the front door scuff plate, the rear door scuff plate, the rear assist handle and the B-pillar trim panel.
3. Remove the front safety belt retractor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the front safety belt retractor.
4. Remove the front passenger side safety belt anchor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the front safety belt anchor.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the front safety belt retractor.
1 Position the front safety belt retractor to the B-pillar.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
2. Route the safety belt anchor and guide through the B-pillar trim panel.
3. Install the shoulder belt guide.
1 Position the B-pillar trim panel to the body and push in at the top securing only those retainers.
2 Position the shoulder belt guide to the height adjuster.
3 Install the retaining nut.
4 Close the shoulder belt guide cover.
NOTE:
^ Do not secure the lower section of the B-pillar trim panel as the shipping clip will need to be removed from the safety belt retractor later.
^ Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
4. Remove the shipping clip from the safety belt retractor.
5. Push in on the B-pillar trim panel, securing the remaining retaining clips.
6. Install the front passenger side safety belt anchor.
1 Position the safety belt anchor.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
7. Install the rear assist handle, rear door scuff plate and front door scuff plate.
8. Check the restraints system for correct operation.
