Safety Belt Bolt Bit:
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
NOTE: New safety belt buckles, height adjusters, center adjust tongues and belts and retractors can be installed separately. However, if a safety belt assembly was in use during a collision, a new belt and retractor must be installed as well as the center adjust tongue and belt and buckle assembly or the center adjust tongue and the cable and buckle assembly. When installing new safety belts and buckles, height adjusters, safety cables and buckles, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors, use only the parts specified in the Ford Master Parts Catalogs for the make and model of the vehicle being repaired. Safety belt assemblies must not be interchanged between vehicle models.
1. Adjust the second row seat to its most forward position.
2. Remove the third row seat.
3. Remove the second and third row seat belt guide panel inserts.
4. Pull to release the retaining clips and remove the floor finish panel.
5. Pull up to release the retaining clips and remove the rear door scuff plate. Peel the weather stripping to access the C-pillar and quarter trim panels.
6. Remove the spare tire.
7. Remove the bolts and the spare tire mounting plate.
8. Peel the floor covering back along the rear quarter trim panel.
9. Remove the second row safety belt anchor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the safety belt anchor.
10. Remove the third row safety belt anchor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the safety belt anchor.
11. Pull out where indicated on the second row safety belt guide cover and open.
12. Remove the second row safety belt guide.
1 Remove the nut.
2 Remove the safety belt guide.
CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
13. Remove the third row safety belt guide.
1 Peel the safety belt guide cover down to access the bolt.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
3 Remove the safety belt guide.
CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
14. Pull to release the retaining clips and remove the C-pillar trim panel.
15. Remove the pin-type retainers out of the quarter trim panel.
NOTE: Passenger side is shown, driver side is similar.
16. Pull out to release the retaining clips and position the quarter trim panel out enough to disconnect the power point electrical connector.
NOTE:
^ Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.
^ Drivers side front half quarter trim panel is only necessary to remove.
17. Disconnect the power point electrical connector and remove the quarter trim panel.
NOTE: Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.
Second row retractor only
18. Remove the second row safety belt retractor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the second row safety belt retractor.
Third row retractor only
19. Remove the third row safety belt retractor.
1 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-21 00-A), remove the bolt.
2 Remove the third row safety belt retractor.
INSTALLATION
Third row retractor only
1. Install the third row safety belt retractor.
1 Position the third row safety belt retractor to the body.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
Second row retractor only
2. Install the second row safety belt retractor.
1 Position the second row safety belt retractor to the body.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt
3. Route the second and third row safety belt anchors and guides through the B-pillar trim panel.
4. Position the quarter trim panel to the body and connect the power point electrical connector.
NOTE:
^ Do not secure the quarter trim panel as the shipping clip(s) will need to be removed from the safety belt retractor(s) later.
^ Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.
5. Install the third row safety belt guide.
1 Position the safety belt guide.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
3 Reposition the safety belt guide cover.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
6. Install the second row safety belt guide.
1 Position the safety belt guide.
2 Install the nut.
3 Close the safety belt guide cover.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
7. Remove the shipping clip(s) from the safety belt retractor(s).
8. Position the quarter trim panel and push in on it securing the fasteners.
NOTE: Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.
9. Install the third row safety belt anchor.
1 Position the safety belt anchor.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
10. Install the second row safety belt anchor.
1 Position the safety belt anchor.
2 Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
11. Install the pin-type retainers into the quarter trim panel.
NOTE: Passenger side is shown, driver side is similar.
12. Reposition the floor covering back along the rear quarter trim panel.
13. Position the C-pillar trim panel and push in on it, securing the fasteners.
14. Position the spare tire mounting plate and install the bolts.
15. Install the spare tire.
16. Reposition the weather stripping. Position the rear door scuff plate and push down on it to secure the fasteners.
17. Position the floor finish panel and push down on it to secure the fasteners.
18. Install the second and third row seat belt guide inserts into the quarter trim panel.
19. Install the third row seat.
20. Readjust the second row seat.
21. Check the restraints system for correct operation.
