ISSUE
Some 2000-2001 Explorer/Mountaineer vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0351 through P0354 possible with no driveability concerns present. This may be caused by the calibration of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION
If no driveability concerns are present and no other failures are observed during normal diagnosis, reprogram the PCM using a New Generation Star (NGS) Tester or the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) as necessary.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
