ISSUE
On some vehicles the power rear window may exhibit a rattle noise when in the vent position. This may be due to a stick/slip condition between the regulator rail and the plastic glide mechanism.
ACTION
To service this condition, an updated Power Rear Window Regulator (1L5Z-35422A08-AA) should only be installed if the following Service Procedure directs regulator replacement.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE
IF WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY, DO NOT REPLACE THE POWER REAR WINDOW MOTOR.
1. Remove the Rear Window Glass-Regulator. Refer to Section 501-11 of the on-line Workshop Manual.
2. Pull the black plastic glider off of the power rear window regulator rail.
3. Apply Krytox grease (164-R4906) from the Rotunda Squeak & Raule Kit (164-R4900) to the areas of the glider that interface to the regulator rail.
4. Ensure that Krytox grease is applied into the notched areas of the plastic glider (Figure 11).
5. Reinstall the glider back onto the power rear window regulator rail and reassemble the power rear window. Initialize the power rear window. Refer to Quick Initialization Guide Figures 1-10.
6. Cycle power rear window up and down 15-20 times to work in Krytox.
7. Re-initialize the power rear window motor. Refer to Quick Initialization Guide Figures 1-10.
8. Road test to verify repair. Repeat Steps 1-7 if necessary.
9. If the condition is still present after following this procedure TWICE, then replace the Power Rear Window Regulator with an updated regulator (1L5Z-35422A08-M). Re-initialize, refer to Quick Initialization Guide Figures 1-10, and road test to verify repair. (The updated service regulator less motor has a black powder coated rail and the old service regulator less motor has a galvanized coating).
