Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.
3. NOTE: Index-mark the front driveshaft and the transfer case front flange to maintain driveline balance.
Remove the front driveshaft.
4. Remove and discard the nut.
^ Use the special tool to prevent the flange from turning.
5. Using a suitable 2- or 3jaw puller, remove the flange.
6. Using the special tools, remove the front output seal.
7. Inspect the flange sea] surface for wear and damage. Discard the flange, if necessary.
Installation
1. Using the special tools, install a new front output seal.
2. Install the front flange.
^ Use the special tool to prevent the flange from turning while installing a new nut.
3. CAUTION: Align the index marks.
Install the front driveshaft.
4. Check and, if necessary, fill the transfer case with the specified fluid to the specified level.
5. Lower the vehicle.
