Keyless Entry: Description and Operation

KEYLESS ENTRY

The keyless entry system consists of the following components:
- remote transmitter
- smart junction box (SJB)

The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
- unlocks the driver door
- unlocks all doors
- locks all doors
- activate/deactivate the panic alarm
- commands the interior lamps on (when unlocking) and off (when locking)
- sounds the horn and flashes lamps once when LOCK is pressed twice within three seconds and doors are closed
- sounds the horn twice when LOCK is pressed twice within three seconds and any door is ajar

NOTE:
- The panic alarm feature only operates when the key is OFF.
- The LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote transmitter operate independently of key positions.

The remote transmitters (up to four) are reprogrammable and must be set at the same time.

To confirm that the doors have been locked, press the LOCK button again within three seconds of the first press. The lamps will flash if the doors have locked and all doors are closed.

To activate the panic alarm:
- Press the red PANIC button on the remote transmitter. The horn will sound and the parking lamps will flash for a maximum of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

To deactivate the panic alarm:
- Press the red PANIC button on the remote transmitter.
- Turn the key to RUN/START.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

Keyless Entry
The remote transmitter sends a frequency signal that is received by the SJB. If the unlock frequency signal is received, the SJB will unlock the driver door. If the unlock frequency signal is received again within 3 seconds of the first unlock, the SJB will unlock all doors.

If the lock frequency signal is received, the SJB will lock all doors. If the frequency signal received is from the panic button, the SJB will cycle ground to the parking lamps and horn. The parking lamps and horn will continue to cycle until the panic button is pressed again, the key is turned to the RUN position or 2 minute and 45 seconds have elapsed.
