Parking Brake ControlRemoval and Installation
All vehicles except E-450
1. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system.
1 Pull down on the parking brake intermediate cable.
2 Insert a 4 mm (0.16 inch) drill bit or equivalent retainer in the parking brake control.

2. NOTE: Make sure the parking brake is fully released.
With the transmission in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake lever.
^ Remove the locking pin from the clevis pin and remove the clevis pin.
All vehicles
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the LH cowl side trim panel.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the parking brake signal switch and bracket.
7. Remove the 3 parking brake control nuts and separate the parking brake control from the steering column support bracket.
8. Remove the cable end retainer from the parking brake control.
9. Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit.
1 Using a box wrench, compress the fingers of the parking brake cable retainer.
2 Pull the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake control.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ For E-450 vehicles, adjust the cable tension.
11. Test the parking brake function.
