Valve Cover RH

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.






3. CAUTION: Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug boot.

Disconnect the spark plug wires by twisting while pulling upward.





4. Disconnect the heater hose support from the stud.





5. Disconnect the spark plug wire holders.





6. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Position the engine control sensor wiring aside.





7. Disconnect the vacuum hose.





8. Disconnect the wiring harness from the valve cover studs.





9. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.






10. NOTE: To prevent stretching the valve cover gasket, loosen silicone gasket and sealant from the cylinder head by sliding a flat knife between the valve cover gasket and cylinder head.

Remove the eight bolts and remove the valve cover.





11. Remove the valve cover gasket, if necessary.

Installation






1. CAUTION: Do not clean the valve cover gasket with solvent. Damage to the valve cover gasket may occur.

Clean all the mating surfaces.





2. Install the valve cover gasket, if removed.






3. NOTE: If the valve cover is not installed within four minutes, remove the sealant and reapply.

Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in two places where the cylinder head and lower intake manifold meet.





4. Install the valve cover.
^ Position the valve cover.
^ Tighten the eight bolts in the sequence shown.





5. Connect the crankcase ventilation tube.





6. Connect the wiring harness to the valve cover studs.





7. Connect the vacuum hose.





8. Position the engine control sensor wiring and connect it to the mass air flow sensor.





9. Connect the spark plug wires to the RH spark plug wire holders.





10. Connect the heater hose support.





11. Install the spark plug wires.





12. Connect the ignition coil electrical connector.
13. Connect the battery ground cable.
