ISSUE
Some 2005-2006 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 5.4L engine and built before 8/22/2006 may exhibit intermittent diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0172 or P0175 (rich codes) and/or engine surge while operating downhill with the cruise control engaged. Additionally, some 2005-2006 E-Series 350/450 vehicles with a 5.4L engine and Torqshift transmission may exhibit harsh transmission drive engagements on start up, transmission shudder on acceleration in reverse and/or shift busyness while towing or on grades when in cruise control.
ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B43.15 and higher or B44.5 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2006.7 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
