Selector Shaft: Service and Repair

Selector Mechanism

Special Tool(s):




Material:





1. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery.





2. Remove the bolts and the battery tray.
^ To install, tighten to 12 Nm 9 (ft. lbs.).





3. Remove the intake air hose.
1 Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose.
2 Loosen the clamps. To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
3 Remove the intake air hose.





4. Remove the bolts and the resonator.
^ To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).





5. Install the special tools.





6. Remove the nuts and the rear engine mount. To install, tighten the center nut to 133 Nm (98 ft. lbs.). Tighten the outer nuts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).





7. Remove the 3 bolts and the rear engine mount bracket.
^ To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).





8. Disconnect the reverse lamp switch electrical connector.
9. Pressing the locking tab, disconnect the gearshift cables from the transaxle.
^ Disconnect the shift cable and the selector cable from the shift mechanism.





10. NOTE: Make sure the transaxle is in the NEUTRAL position.

Position the transaxle in the NEUTRAL position. Remove the 6 bolts and the gearshift mechanism.
^ To install, tighten the bolts in a star pattern to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Apply a bead of gasket maker to the seating surface.
^ Adjust the gearshift cables.
