Normal Operation
Under normal operation, when any wiper mode except OFF is selected, the multi-function switch provides a combination of grounds to the smart junction box (SJB) through circuits 61 (YE/RD), 63 (RD), 65 (DG) and 680 (LB/OG). The SJB interprets this ground combination to determine the desired wiper mode.
When the SJB commands the wipers ON, ground is provided to the run/park relay coil through circuit 646 (YE/WH). When the run/park relay is energized, voltage is sent from the run/park relay to the high/low relay through circuit 28 (BK/PK). Voltage is passed through the high/low relay to the wiper motor through circuit 58 (WH) (low) or 56 (DB/OG) (high). The SJB monitors the park switch status through circuit 671 (LB).
Possible Causes
- A short to voltage in circuit 28 (BK/PK), 56 (DB/OG), 58 (WH) or 671 (LB)
- A short to ground in circuit 61 (YE/RD), 63 (RD), 65 (DG), 646 (YE/WH) or 680 (LB/OG)
- Wiper run/park relay
- Multi-function switch
- Smart junction box (SJB)
