Disassembly
1. Remove the bolts, stud bolts, exhaust manifold and gasket.
^ Discard the bolts, stud bolts and exhaust manifold gasket.





2. Check the exhaust manifold for warpage.
3. Using the special tool, remove the valve spring retainer keys.





4. Remove the valve spring retainer and the valve spring.





5. Remove the valve stem seal.





6. Remove the valve.





Assembly

1. NOTE: Lubricate the valve stem with clean engine oil.

Install the valve.





2. NOTE: Lubricate the valve stem seal with clean engine oil.

Install the valve stem seal.





3. Install the valve spring and the valve spring retainer.





4. Using the special tool, install the valve spring retainer keys.





5. NOTE: Install a new exhaust manifold gasket, bolts and stud bolts.

Install the exhaust manifold gasket, exhaust manifold, bolts and stud bolts.
^ Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs).
