Normal Operation
Under normal operation, when any wiper mode except OFF is selected, the multi-function switch provides a combination of grounds to the smart junction box (SJB) through circuits CRW17 (GN/VT), CRW18 (VT/WH), CRW19 (BU/OG) and CRW15 (BN/WH). The SJB interprets this ground combination to determine the desired wiper mode.
Voltage is provided to the high/low relay coil through circuit CBP05 (YE). When low speed is commanded, the high/low relay is de-energized and voltage is sent to the wiper motor through circuit CRW10 (BU/GN). When high speed is commanded, the smart junction box (SJB) provides ground to the high/low relay coil through circuit CRW01 (WH). When the high/low relay is energized, voltage is sent from the high/low relay to the wiper motor through circuit CRW08 (VT/OG). When any wiper mode except OFF is selected, the multi-function switch provides a combination of grounds to the smart junction box (SJB) through circuits CRW17 (GN/VT), CRW18 (VT/WH), CRW19 (BU/OG) and CRW15 (BN/WH). The SJB interprets this ground combination to determine the desired wiper mode.
Possible Causes
- An open in circuit CRW08 (VT/OG), CRW10 (BU/GN), CRW01 (WH), CRW15 (BN/WH) or CBP05 (YE)
- A short to voltage in circuit CRW01 (WH)
- A short to ground in circuit CRW01 (WH), CRW15 (BN/WH)
- A short together in circuit CRW08 (VT/OG) and CRW10 (BU/GN) or CRW18 (VT/WH) and CRW15 (BN/WH)
- Wiper high/low relay
- Wiper motor
- Multi-function switch
- Smart junction box (SJB)
