Inspection and Verification
1. Verify the customer concern.
^ Road test the vehicle, if possible.
^ Get an accurate description of the condition.
^ Identify when the condition occurs: when hot or cold, during shifting, driving at a particular speed or in a particular gear.
^ Carry out the following Noise Evaluation procedures, as necessary.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of wear or mechanical damage

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and GO to the following symptom charts. GO to Symptom Chart - Clutch Operation, GO to Symptom Chart Transmission Operation or GO to Symptom Chart - Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) for additional source information and suggested test procedures.
