Oil Pan - Lower









Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.

3. Remove the engine cover.

4. Remove the cooling fan stator. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.

5. Remove the A/C compressor.

6. Remove the 2 power steering pump upper mounting bolts.





7. Remove the LH fan stator stand-off.





8. NOTE: The front bolt will remain in the power steering pump.

Remove the 2 bolts and position the power steering pump aside.





9. Remove the oil pan drain plug.





10. Remove and discard the 2 exhaust flange nuts.





11. NOTE: Left side shown, right side similar.

Remove the 4 engine mount nuts.





12. Remove the bolt and position the cable aside and remove the RH fan stator stand-off.





13. Install the Adapter.





14. Install the Engine Lifting Attachment and Heavy Duty Floor Crane.





15. NOTICE: Use care when raising the engine to avoid engine or body damage.

Raise the engine.

16. Support the engine with jackstands or other suitable devices.

17. NOTE: The oil pan bolts must be reinstalled in their original positions. Mark the location of the longer bolts to aid in installation.

Remove the 20 bolts and position back the oil pan until the oil pickup tube bolts are accessible.





18. Remove the 2 bolts and position the oil pickup tube into the oil pan. Remove the oil pan.





19. Remove and discard the oil pickup tube O-ring seal.





20. Remove the press-in-place gasket and discard.
- Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.





Installation

1. Install a new press-in-place gasket into the upper oil pan.





2. Install a new O-ring seal on the oil pickup tube and position the oil pickup tube in the oil pan.





3. Position the oil pan in the vehicle.

4. Install the oil pan pickup tube and the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).





5. Install the oil pan and the 20 bolts.

1. Install the 5 longer oil pan bolts.

2. Install the remaining oil pan bolts.

- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).





6. Lower the engine.

7. Position back the cable and install the bolt. Install the RH fan stator stand-off.
- Tighten both to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).





8. NOTE: Tighten the top retaining nut first.

NOTE: Left side shown, right side similar.

Install the 4 engine mount nuts.

- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).





9. Install the 2 new exhaust flange nuts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





10. Clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug and gasket. Install new, if necessary.





11. Install the oil drain plug.
- Tighten to 44 Nm (32 lb-ft).





12. Reposition the power steering pump and install the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).





13. Install the LH fan stator stand-off.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).





14. Install the 2 upper power steering pump bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).





15. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.

16. Install the engine cover.

17. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.

18. Install the A/C compressor.

19. Install the cooling fan stator. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.

20. Run the engine and check for leaks.
