Pinpoint Test BB: DTC U2472

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 60, Instrument Cluster for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives both the RUN/START and keep alive voltage inputs from the Smart Junction Box (SJB). The IC is grounded through the a single hardwired ground.

- DTC U2472 (Unexpected Ignition State) - sets in the IC when a discrepancy is detected between the hardwired voltage input and the messaged ignition state inputs from the SJB. The SJB messaged input indicates RUN while the hardwired input indicates RUN/START for more than 5 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Fuse(s)
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- SJB

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

BB1 CHECK THE IC RUN/START VOLTAGE SUPPLY


- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the voltage between the IC C220-26, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.




- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the IC C220-26, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.




- Place the ignition in the START position.
- Measure the voltage between the IC C220-26, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.




- Is the voltage 0 volts in the OFF position and greater than 10 volts in the RUN and START positions?

Yes
GO to BB2.

No
VERIFY the SJB fuse 29 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit for an open. TEST the system for normal operation. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Diagrams By Number

BB2 CHECK THE SJB INPUT PIDs FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB DataLogger.
- Select the SJB PIDs ignition switch ACC (IGN_A_ECU), ignition switch OFF (IGN_O_ECU), ignition switch RUN (IGN_R_ECU), and ignition switch START (IGN_S_ECU). Monitor the ignition switch PIDs while cycling the ignition switch from ACC, OFF, RUN and START.
- Do the SJB PIDs match the ignition switch positions?

Yes
GO to BB3.

No
REFER to Steering Column to diagnose the ignition switch outputs to the SJB.

BB3 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION


- Close all doors and hood.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center displays.
- Does the door ajar message center warning indicator display?

Yes
GO to BB4.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AD Pinpoint Tests AD: The Door Ajar Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On

BB4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the self-test.
- Is DTC U0121 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test AS. Pinpoint Tests AS: DTC U0121

No
GO to BB5.

BB5 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded ABS module DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems.

No
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems.
