Rail Assembly - Roof, Front Track
Removal
NOTICE: The gearing on the shade motor assembly (white label) is different than the sliding glass motor assembly (blue label). If the shade motor or the sliding glass motor is installed in the incorrect location, the sunshade and/or glass panel travel distance will be affected and damage to some of the components may result.
NOTE: If required, there is a special service replacement fastener available if a screw hole becomes stripped during installation. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel - Exploded View [1][2]Exploded Views.
1. Remove the roof opening panel blind. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Blind Roof Opening Panel Blind.
2. Remove the roof opening panel sliding glass. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Glass- Front Sliding Roof Opening Panel Glass - Front Sliding.
3. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
Remove the air deflector-to-track screw and air deflector arm capture plate on the affected roof rail assembly front track.
4. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
Remove the air deflector catcher bracket outer screw on the affected roof rail assembly front track.
5. Remove the front shade assembly. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Shade Assembly Roof Opening Panel Shade Assembly.
6. Remove the roof opening panel sliding glass motor. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor- Sliding Front Panel Roof Opening Panel Motor - Sliding Front Panel.
7. Move the rail assembly slide to the full forward position on the affected roof rail assembly front track.
8. Remove the front drive tube bracket-to-roof rail assembly front track screw.
9. NOTE: Carefully mark the location of the guide track in 3 places before removing any fasteners. The new guide track must be installed in exactly the same position.
Remove the 8 roof rail assembly front track-to-roof opening panel frame screws.
10. NOTE: Protect the vehicle interior from grease.
Drop the front of the roof rail assembly front track down while sliding the entire roof rail assembly front track forward and down.
- Carefully pull the front shade guide foot out of the rear of the roof rail assembly front track to release the shade cable.
- Continue sliding the roof rail assembly front track forward and down. The drive cable will slowly withdraw from the drive tube until the entire assembly is free.
Installation
1. NOTE: Protect the vehicle interior from grease.
NOTE: If installing a new roof rail assembly front track and rail assembly slide, remove and discard the shade cable from the new assembly and reuse the existing shade cable.
While holding the roof rail assembly front track and rail assembly slide, slowly insert the sliding glass drive cable into the drive tube. Insert the shade cable into the roof rail assembly front track and make sure the front drive tube bracket is fully seated into the track assembly.
2. Install the 8 roof rail assembly front track-to-roof opening panel frame screws.
- Align the roof rail assembly front track to the marks previously made. Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
3. Install the front drive tube bracket-to-roof rail assembly front track screw. Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
4. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
Install the air deflector catcher bracket outer screw on the affected roof rail assembly front track.
- Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
5. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
Install the air deflector-to-track screw and air deflector arm capture plate on the affected roof rail assembly front track.
- NOTE: If the nut plate(s) becomes stripped during installation, a new nut plate can be installed. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel- Exploded View [1][2]Exploded Views.
Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
6. Attach the bottom of the concertina blind to the roof rail assembly front track in the most forward position.
7. NOTE: Do not install the headliner at this time.
Install the front shade assembly but do not carry out the roof opening panel motor initialization. For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Shade Assembly Roof Opening Panel Shade Assembly.
8. Re-time the roof opening panel. For additional information, refer to Timing Adjustment Adjustments.
