Pinpoint Test T: The Heated Seat is Inoperative - Right Rear Seat Does Heat But the Heated Seat Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Pressed
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 119, Climate Controlled Seats for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation
Pressing the right rear heated seat switch once in either the hi or low mode commands the right rear heated seat on. Voltage is then supplied to the right rear heated seat switch from the heated seat module to illuminate the appropriate hi/low switch indicator. Pressing the right rear heated seat switch again in the mode that is currently on sets the right rear heated seat to off and turns that LED off.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Heated seat module
- Heated seat switch
PINPOINT TEST T : THE HEATED SEAT IS INOPERATIVE - RIGHT REAR SEAT DOES HEAT BUT THE HEATED SEAT INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN PRESSED
WARNING: Never install heated seat parts not intended for use on this vehicle. Parts released for other model years or vehicle lines are not compatible even if they appear visually and physically similar. Installing incorrect parts will result in heated seat system performance outside design specification. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
T1 CHECK THE HEATED SWITCH LED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Right Rear Heated Seat Switch C822.
- Disconnect: Heated Seat Module C3162B.
- Measure the resistance between:
- heated seat module C3162B-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and ground.
- heated seat module C3162B-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and ground.
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to T2.
No
REPAIR the affected circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
T2 CHECK THE HEATED SWITCH LED CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between:
- right rear heated seat switch C822-3, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and heated seat module C3162B-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side.
- right rear heated seat switch C822-4, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and heated seat module C3162B-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side.
Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to T3.
No
REPAIR the affected circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
T3 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT HI INDICATOR
- Connect: Right Rear Heated Seat Switch C822.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect a fused jumper lead between heated seat module C3162B-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and the battery positive post.
Does the hi indicator LED illuminate on the right rear heated seat switch?
Yes
GO to T4.
No
INSTALL a new rear heated seat switch. REFER to Heated Seat Switch - Rear Seat . TEST the system for normal operation.
T4 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT LOW INDICATOR
- Connect a fused jumper lead between heated seat module C3162B-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and the battery positive post.
Does the low indicator LED illuminate on the right rear heated seat switch?
Yes
INSTALL a new heated seat module. REFER to Heated Seat Module - Rear Seat . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new rear heated seat switch. REFER to Heated Seat Switch - Rear Seat . TEST the system for normal operation.
