Pinpoint Test AI: DTCs C1A99:14, C1A99:17, C1A99:2F, C1A99:62 or C1A99:65

Normal Operation

The ABS module uses internal pressure sensors to determine proper operation by monitoring internal Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) hydraulic pressures. These DTCs set if the brake pressure sensor signals do not match. This fault could set by either an internal ABS module failure or an HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) pressure sensor failure. The pressure sensors are internal to the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and cannot be serviced separately.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- ABS module

- HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit)

PINPOINT TEST AI : DTCs C1A99:14, C1A99:17, C1A99:2F, C1A99:62 OR C1A99:65

AI1 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL AND BRACKET

- Inspect the brake pedal position switch and brake pedal assembly. Verify there is no brake pedal pressure unintentionally applied due to incorrect brake pedal position switch or brake pedal installation.

Are the brake pedal position switch and brake pedal OK?

Yes
GO to AI2.

No
REPAIR or INSTALL new components as necessary.

AI2 CHECK FOR DTCs C1A99:14, C1A99:17, C1A99:2F, C1A99:62, C1A99:65 TO RETURN

- Ignition ON.

- Using a scan tool, clear all CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

- Test drive the vehicle at speeds greater than 32 km/h (20 mph).

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.

Is DTC C1A99:14, C1A99:17, C1A99:2F, C1A99:62 or C1A99:65 present?

Yes
GO to AI3.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by air trapped in the hydraulic brake system. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

AI3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE-TO-HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) TORQUE VALUES

- Ignition OFF.

- Verify all ABS module-to-HCU fasteners are tightened to the correct torque specifications. Refer to Specifications.

Are the ABS module-to-HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) fasteners tightened to the correct torque specification?

Yes
INSTALL a new HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit). REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) . GO to AI4.

No
TIGHTEN all ABS module-to-HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) fasteners. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

AI4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION

- Ignition ON.

- Using a scan tool, clear all CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

- Test drive the vehicle at speeds greater than 32 km/h (20 mph).

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.

Is DTC C1A99:14, C1A99:17, C1A99:2F, C1A99:62 or C1A99:65 present?

Yes
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
Fault is corrected. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation. Return the vehicle to the customer.
