Hesitation or Stalls on Acceleration
DefinitionMomentary lack of response as the accelerator is pushed down. Can occur at any vehicle speed. Usually most severe when accelerating from a stop. May cause the vehicle to stall if severe enough.
POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
Poor or contaminated fuel Check Excessive alcohol content.
Alcohol/Contaminants-In-Fuel Testing Procedure
Replace Drain fuel tank and add clean fuel
NOTE Recommend higher grade fuel
Fuel Metering Check Air/fuel ratio (O2 Sensor Voltage)
Perform Oxygen Sensor Test
Check Fuel pressure.
Perform Injector service (cleaning)
Faulty Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) Check TPS for binding or sticking
Voltage rate should move evenly and steadily
as throttle is moved toward Wide Open Throttle (WOT)
Faulty EVAP emission control Check Canister purge system
Inoperative fuel injector(s) Check Injector(s).
Perform: - Injector driver circuit test.
