SRS INDICATOR WIRE HARNESS SHORT OR OPEN

1. Disconnect SRS main harness 4-pin connector from main wire harness, then with ignition switch On, measure voltage between No. 1 terminal and body ground. If voltage is more than 8.5 volts, go to step 5. If voltage is less than 8.5 volts, go to step 2.
2. Disconnect both battery cables, the install short connector on airbag Fig. 1. Reconnect both battery cables.
3. Connect test harness B between SRS unit and main harness. Check for continuity between B11 and body ground. If continuity exists, SRS main harness is shorted. Replace as necessary. If continuity does not exists, proceed to step 4.
4. Check for continuity between test harness B terminal B11 and terminal 1 of SRS main harness 4-pin connector. If continuity exists, SRS unit is defective. Replace as necessary. If continuity does not exist, there is an open in the SRS main harness. Replace main harness.
5. Connect SRS main harness 4-pin connector to main wire harness. Disconnect dashboard wire harness 18-pin connector from gauge assembly. Turn ignition switch On and measure voltage between terminal 15 and body ground. If voltage is more than 8.5 volts, SRS indicator circuit is defective (in gauge assembly). Replace gauge assembly. If voltage is less than 8.5 volts, dashboard wire harness (or main wire harness) is defective. Replace necessary wire harness.
