DTC P0746: CVT Drive Pulley Pressure Control Valve Stuck OFF

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data arid any on-board snapshot, and review General Troubleshooting Information.

1. Check whether the HDS indicates any other DTC simultaneously with DTC P0746.
Are there any other DTCs?
YES - Troubleshoot the indicated DTC, and recheck for DTC P0746 after troubleshooting.
NO - Go to step 2.

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature reaches 176°F (80°C).
4. Check the IMA battery level gauge in the gauge control module (speedo).
Does the battery level gauge indicate 4-19 segments?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Run the engine in the P position at 3,500 rpm until the battery level gauge shows 4-19 segments, then go to step 5.

5. Shift to the D position, and keep pressing the brake pedal for 5 seconds. Accelerate from a stop at full throttle, and run the vehicle on a flat road for about 15 seconds. Do not release the accelerator during test-driving. Slow down to a Stop, and after stopping keep pressing the brake pedal for 5 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Restart the engine, and repeat test-driving step 5.
7. Check whether the HDS indicates DTC P0746, P0777, or P1899.
Does the HDS indicate DTC P0746, P0777, or P1899?
YES - CVT drive pulley pressure control valve may be stuck OFF or CVT driven pulley pressure control valve may be stuck ON:
^ DTC P0746 is indicated, replace the CVT drive pulley pressure control valve.
^ DTC P0777 is indicated, replace the CVT driven pulley pressure control valve.
^ DTC P1899 is indicated, replace the CVT drive pulley pressure control valve and CVT driven pulley pressure control valve as a set.
If any part was replaced, go to step 8.
NO - Return to step 5, and repeat test-driving. If the HDS does not indicate a DTC after the test-drive has been done four times, the problem was an intermittent failure; the system is OK at this time.

8. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
9. Start the engine.
11. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Restart the engine, and repeat test-driving step 10.
12. Check that DTC P0746 recurs.
Is DTC P0746 indicated?
YES - Replace the transmission.
NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
