Front Seat Belt Replacement

Special Tools Required

- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014**Available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program; call

Front Seat Belt

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Technician Safety Information before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- If you are replacing the front seat belts after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

- Check the front seat belts for damage, Testing and Inspection and replace them if necessary. Be careful not to damage them during removal and installation.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove the front seat. Front Seat Removal/Installation

3. Remove these items:
- Front seat-back cover Front Seat-Back Cover Replacement

- Front seat recline cover Front Seat Cushion Cover Replacement

4. Remove the lower anchor (A).

5. Remove these items:
- Front seat cushion cover Front Seat Cushion Cover Replacement

- Front seat belt buckle





6. Remove the front seat belt upper anchor (A).

7. Remove the screws (B), and the seat belt sleeve bracket (C) from the seat frame (D).

8. Detach the clip (E), then release the seat belt sleeve (F).






9. Detach the clips (A, B), then release the clips (C), and remove the recline rear cover (D) from the seat frame (E).






10. Remove the bolts (A) and the seat cushion protector (B) from the seat frame (C).






11. Disconnect and detach the seat belt tensioner connectors (A). Remove the wire tie (B), and detach the clip (C).

12. Remove the retractor mounting bolt (A), then remove the front seat belt and retractor (B).






13. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.

- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.

- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions. Testing and Inspection

- Assemble the washers on the upper and lower anchor bolts as shown.

- If the seat belt tensioner has deployed, replace the seat belt protector with a new one.

- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.

- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.

- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures

Seat Belt Buckle

NOTE: If you are replacing the front seat belt buckle pretensioner after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Installation After Deployment, Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove the front seat. Front Seat Removal/Installation

3. Lift up the front seat, then detach the seat belt buckle switch connector (A) and the seat belt buckle tensioner connector (B), then on the driver's seat, remove the wire tie (C). On the passenger's seat, detach the harness clip (D).

4. Remove the center cover from the seat. Front Seat Cushion Cover Replacement

5. Pull the seat belt buckle switch/tensioner harness (A) out through the space between the seat cushion and the seat linkage (driver's seat), or the hole on the seat track (passenger's seat).

6. Remove the center anchor bolt (B), and remove the seat belt buckle (C).






7. Install the seat belt buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolts before reinstalling it.

- Assemble the washers and the collar on the center anchor bolt as shown.

- If the seat belt tensioner has deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.

- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.

- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.

- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
